Music and the Vibration of Love

Dreams That Open the Heart

I often dream about love. Not the insecure, carnal, co-dependent kind of love. Real love. The kind that vibrates beyond time and space. The kind that doesnโ€™t ask for anything in return. The frequency of which transcends all.

In my meditations, I fly. Not metaphorically – I mean really fly. I soar above high rises and huts, over homes in small towns and shanties in villages on every continent. I glide past palaces and homeless camps, row houses and hospitals. And as I traverse the globe, imagining all manner of humans in all manner of human situations, my heart explodes open with love. Love not only for the people, but for nature – the puppies and kitties, the fish and the birds, and even the bugs*. Gratitude flows along with love, and in those moments, all of the negativity of this time and this place falls away.

Thereโ€™s power in holding that vibration. And it doesnโ€™t just benefit me. It raises the vibration of the planet. Yep, just little olโ€™ me – one heart, one soul. My love changes the world.

Open-Hearted Songwriters

You know who gets this right, so often? Songwriters. Most of them say they โ€œdownloadโ€ the songs they write from an unseen source. They open their hearts, and in it flows: lyrics, a melody, a song that raises the vibration of those who hear it. Their inspiration exponentially affects the vibration of the planet.

Love has been the subject of songs from the very beginning, and in the vintage pop world, there are too many songs about love to mention in one blog. But love, according to lyricists, lifts us higher, it canโ€™t be bought, it can change the world. It is soft as an easy chair and fresh as the morning air. Love will keep us together, ’cause it’s a wonderful thing. Love is like oxygen, it changes everything, and it can be addicting, that crazy little thing.

From Huey Lewis and the News exploring the power of love, to Jackie DeShannon making the point that the world needs love, sweet love, to Paul McCartney defying the lament that there are too many love songs by writing a song that repeats it straight up – โ€œI love youโ€ฆโ€

Then thereโ€™s Todd Rundgren who absolutely nailed it in 1977 with โ€œLove is the Answer.โ€

Light of the world, shine on me
Love is the answer
Shine on us all, set us free
Love is the answerโ€ฆ

Love is a Force

So many artists tapped into something bigger than themselves. They channeled the universal truth that love is not just an emotion – itโ€™s a force. A frequency. A spiritual current that flows through everything.

Itโ€™s not always easy to focus on love. Life can be tough, and there is so much negativity and marketing and corruption to disrupt our experience here. But hereโ€™s what I know: we get what we focus on, not what we want. I know that โ€œpositive vibesโ€ from one person can make a difference. I know that we are all connected – to each other and the nature that surrounds us. Separation is only an illusion, and we must do what it takes to silence the noise from those sources that want us to feel separate from others.

There are so many artists who โ€œgot itโ€ and put it out there, but in my humble opinion, George Harrison said it best in his song โ€œWithin You and Without Youโ€:

We were talking about the love we all could share, when we find it
To try our best to hold it there, with our love
With our love, we could save the world if they only knew…

When you’ve seen beyond yourself
Then you may find, peace of mind is waiting there
And the time will come when you see we’re all one
And life flows on within you and without you

Yes, musicians – whether high on life or otherwise ๐Ÿ˜‰ – so often get this right.

โ€œItโ€™s the word-love.โ€
โ€œI honestly love you.โ€
โ€œAll you need is love.โ€
โ€œLove is the answer.โ€

And when I remember that, when I tune in to that frequency, I feel it. I feel the shift. I feel the healing. I feel the connection. And I know that love – real love – is the most powerful force in the universe. Iโ€™m grateful for all of the songs that remind me of this.

So no matter what, I keep dreaming. I keep flying. I keep loving. Because my love matters. And so does yours. <3
